Jesse Garlitts - Died at his late residence, Lincoln Avenue, Meyersdale, Wednesday night, January 13th, Jesse Garlitts, aged 52 years, 2 months and 19 days. The deceased had been in delicate health for nearly six years when he suffered a severe attack of typhoid fever, but attended to business until last September; from that date while confined to the house he never was forced to take his bed until three days before his death. The ultimate cause of his death was diabetes. Jesse Garlitts was born in Greenville township on the farm where Jesse Miller now resides where he spent most of his young days. In April 1888 he married Miss Barbara Ella Housel, who with three children survives him. The children are Emily, Raleigh, and Willie who resides at home. He is also survived by one brother, Hamilton Garlitts, and one sister, Mrs. Wise, who reside at Mongo, Indiana. He resided in Meyersdale for nine years and had been coal inspector for the Somerset Coal company. He was sincerely respected, a devoted husband and father, and in every way an ideal citizen whose death was not only a loss to his immediate family but to the community in which he lived. The funeral took place Sunday. Services were held at the house by Elder Clapper before the cortege started for the Hochstettler Church in Greenville township where Elder Hostettler officiated at the services.
