- Laura L. Hitchins, 82, of Carlos, died March 13, 1980 in Sacred Heart Hospital. Born in Carlos, she was a daughter of the late William Lucas and Annie (Winner) Lucas. Her husband, John R. Hitchins, preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Drew, with whom she resided, and one son, Thomas Hitchins, both of Carlos; two brothers, George Lucas and Eugene Lucas, both of Frostburg, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Isabel Gray, of Midland, and Mrs. Ina Getty of Meyersdale; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home. Services were conducted in the funeral home by the Rev. George M. Harpold. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. She was a member of Carlos United Methodist Church. The Republic, March 20, 1980
