- FROSTBURG — Zeola L. “Zip” Robeson, 100, of Frostburg, died Monday, June 20, 2011, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg. Born April 27, 1911, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Naomi J. (Otto) Layman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edwin L. Robeson, Aug. 18, 1992; and two sisters, Clara and Leanna Layman. Mrs. Robeson was an elementary school teacher for the Garrett County Board of Education, a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and Mt. Zion United Methodist Women’s Group. She was also a member of Alpha Alpha Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Garrett County Teacher’s Association, AARP, NRA, Eastern Garrett County Senior Citizen’s, Rt. 40 Homemaker’s Club, Grantsville Lioness Club, Northern Garrett County Republican Club and nearly 200 people recently attended her 100th birthday celebration on May 1, 2011. A devout Christian, she touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dorothy Minick, Frostburg. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Mt.
