Notes |
- She died on 22 Jul 1942 at the age of 72 in Hyndman, Londonderry Township, Bedford Co., Pennsylvania. Hyndman, Pa., July 23 - Mrs. Hattie Clair Logsdon, 72, was instantly killed yesterday afternoon when struck by an eastbound Baltimore and Ohio Railroad passenger train here. Dr. John A. Topper, deputy coroner, said death was accidental. Mrs. Logsdon, a native of Green Ridge, east of Cumberland, was crossing from the south to the north side of the triple tracks about three blocks from her home when she was struck, apparently by the steps leading from the cab of the locomotive. The train stopped after dragging the woman's body a short distance. Her face was badly mutilated and her left leg was fractured. A daughter of the late Harvey and Rachel Smith of Green Ridge, Mrs. Logsdon was first married to Dr. H. E. Mitchell who died a number of years ago. She was later married to William Logsdon, Hyndman, who died about a year ago. She was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. William Lourant, Quicksburg, Va.; Mrs. Ralph Hillegass, Baltimore; Mrs. Edward Flemone, San Diego, Cal.; Mrs. Stella Dunn, and Mrs. James Zollner, Cumberland; one son, Cecil Mitchell, Hancock.
