Homer C. "Porky" Griffith. 45, Frostburg businessman, died this morning in Memorial Hospital where he was admitted Monday. He had been in ill health a short time. Mr. Griffith had owned and operated the Potomac Fruit Market here until recent months when he closed the business to establish a package liquor store in LaVale. He also was co-owner with his wife, the former Miss Edna Pengelly of Cumberland, of Griffiths' Dress Shop in Frostburg. Born in Eckhart, a son of Mrs. Sophia (Porter) Griffith and the late Herbert F. Griffith, he had resided in Frostburg most of his life. Mr. Griffith was a graduate of Beall High School there and held membership in Frostburg Lodge 470, BPO Elks, and Masonic Order. He was also a Shriner. Surviving besides his mother and widow are two brothers, Herbert L. Griffith, Lansing, Mich., and Gilbert R. Griffith, Frostburg. The body will be at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg. The Cumberland Evening Times, June 5, 1959
