- FROSTBURG — Herbert H. Griffith, 76, who lived at the Gunter Hotel, died yesterday evening at Miners Hospital, where he had been a patient since Friday. He was born at Eckhart, and was a son of the late William and Annie (Bomar) Griffith. Mr. Griffith was employed for a number of years as yard master for the old C&P Railroad at Eckhart and later was station agent in Frostburg. He was a member of First English Baptist Church and was past master of Mt. Lodge 99, AF & AM. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sophia P. Griffith, Frostburg; three sons, Gilbert R. Griffith and Homer C. Griffith, both of here, and Herbert L. Griffith, Lansing, Mich.; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home where services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. by Rev. Elwood Settle, pastor of First English Baptist Church. Burial will be in Eckhart Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p. m. at the Durst Funeral Home by Rev. E. Elwood Settle, pastor of the First English Baptist Church of Frostburg. Interment will be in Eckhart Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge of Frostburg.
