"MRS. VELMA MCKENZIE"
"Mrs. Velma G. McKenzie, 67, of Lincolnshire Apartments, Pontiac, died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 1979, at St. James Hospital in Pontiac following a brief illness."
"Graveside services were held at Restland Cemetery at ll a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4."
"Friends called at the Raleigh J. Harris Funeral Home in Pontiac from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. A memorial service was held at 8 p.m. Memorials were directed to the Livingston County Heart Association."
"Mrs. McKenzie was born April 18, 1912, at Alamo, Ind., a daughter of William A. and Sara Jane (McJunkins) Gilkey. She attended school in Champaign and graduated from Mendota High School and Gregg Business School in Chicago."
"She was a court reporter for LaSalle County from l931 to l934 and a secretary at Conco Eng. Works many years. After her marriage to Ralph W. McKenzie in 1952, she later was a court reporter for the Circuit Court in Livingston County from l968 to l974."
"Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie left Mendota when they bought a book store in Sterling which they operated from l956 to l965, know as the McKenzie Book Store."
"Mrs. McKenzie is survived by two sons, Robert B. of Pontiac and John W. of Aurora, one daughter, Roberta C. Danielson of Fremont, Calif., seven grandchildren; one brother, William Gilkey of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; two half brothers, Barton and Gene Fishero of Crawfordsville, Ind.; and a half-sister, Mrs. Ruby Elmore of Anderson, Ind."

"The Rev. Kenneth Solitt, pastor, officiated at the service before an altar decorated with baskets of white roses, white and orchid gladioli and palms. Mrs. Arden Campbell played the traditional wedding marches for the processional and recessional and a prelude of appropriate chosen nuptial selections preceding the service."
"Attending the couple were Miss Mary Alys McIntire as maid of honor; and William Gilkey Jr., brother of the bride, as best man. Willard Fouts and John McKenzie, son of the bridegroom, served as ushers."
