- CHARLES AL A. EVANS CRESAPTOWN Charles Al Allen Evans, 61, of Cresaptown, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at the Braddock Hospital. Born Nov. 6, 1946, in Vanceburg, Ky., he was the son of the late Leo S. Evans and Velva (Conley) Evans. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Alvana Evans; and one foster sister, Alma Kimbler Hill. Mr. Evans was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was an electrician and supervisor for the CSX Railroad. He was a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion, serving on the Honor Guard, and also a member of IBEW Local 870 Electricians Union. Surviving are his wife, Joan (McKenzie) Evans; one daughter, Angela Beth Evans, LaVale, and fiance Sgt. John Daugherty; two sons, Sidney Allen Evans and wife Mami, Ridgeley, W.Va., Jason Marshall Evans and wife Shannon, Cresaptown; two stepdaughters, Ann-Marie Abe and husband Fred, Cresaptown, Mary Elizabeth naught and husband Frank, Lumberport, W.Va.; five sisters, Olive Elliott, Vanceburg, Ky., Virgie Irene Stone and husband Denny, Vanceburg, Eileen Kennard and husband Fred, Vanceburg, Kathleen Riffe, Garrison, Ky., Regina Mustard and husband Larry, Concord, Ky.; one brother, Rev. Nelson Evans and wife Jane, Vanceburg; six grandchildren, .Iordan Evans, Freddie Abe, Seth Evans, Jayla Evans, Emily Evans and Brooke Evans; his mother-in-law, Sarah Shaffer and husband Bob, Cresaptown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, PA., Cresaptown, (www.scaipellifh.com) on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at IO a.m. with the Rev. Joseph D. Byers officiating. Interment will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard, Frostburg.
