- Marie A. Lease, 88, of Cumberland died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born June 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Anna Mary (McKenzie) and Samuel Louis Lease. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Lease; and her infant sister, Jeannie; a nephew, Michael Goldsworthy; and a niece, Jennice Goldsworthy. Marie worked at VanMeter's Market and Cresaptown Eagles. She also cared for her parents until their passing. Marie enjoyed family gatherings, camping, playing cards, picnics, and spending time with family. She dearly loved the children she babysat over the years. She was also known Nemaw, Grandma Re and Re to many. She will be missed by many. Marie is survived by whom she considered her daughter, Tina VanMeter and husband, Bill, Cresaptown; Tina and Bill's children, Billy VanMeter and fiancé, Carissa Kile; and Kristina VanMeter and fiancée, Kevin Beers; grandchildren, Jaylynn Albright and Bryson Beers, all of Cresaptown; a brother, Samuel Lease and wife, Linda, Short Gap, W.Va; a sister, Eva Jean Goldsworthy, Fairgo; nephews, Andy Lease, Scott Lease, Brian Lease, Scott Lease Jr, Cresaptown, and Timothy Lease, Cody Lease; and a niece, Logan Lease, Hyndman. Visitation will be at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway, Cresaptown, on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Interment will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy Lease, Timothy Lease, Scott Lease Jr., Billy VanMeter, Bill VanMeter, and Chris Warren.
