- Helen Regina MCKENZIE and Thornton Eugene LEASE were married on 14 Nov 1940 in SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. Miss Helen Regina McKenzie, Cresaptown, daughter of Mrs. Alice Clayton, and the late Albert McKenzie, and Thornton Eugene Lease, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lease, Cresaptown, were married Thursday evening att SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, by the Rev. Fr. Alban. The ring ceremony was used. The bride was given in marriage by her mother. The best man was John McKenzie and the maid of honor, Miss Nellie McKenzie, brother and sister of the bride. A luncheon was served at the home of the bride. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kaylor and children, Anna, Bobby, Donald and Roland, Paw Paw, W. Va.; Fred Robison, Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Clayton, Mr. and Mrs.Samuel Lease, Mr. and Mrs. Lauerbach, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McKenzie, Mr. and Mrs. George Clayton, Gerald Clayton, Mrs. Sam McKenzie, Mrs. Hale, Nellie, Billy, Clarence and Theresa McKenzie. Cresaptown, MD - Helen Regina Lease, 90, of Cresaptown, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at the Cumberland Nursing Home. She was born September 20, 1912 in Cumberland. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Thornton E. Lease. Mrs. Lease was a homemaker and member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Surviving are her son, Russ and wife Sandy, Rawlings; one sister, Theresa McKenzie, Cresaptown; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 7-9 PM. A Christian Wake service will be held on Wednesday at 8:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Thursday at 9:00 AM, with Rev. James Kurtz, OFM, Cap, celebrant. Interment will be in the Lease Cemetery.
