- FROSTBURG — Samuel Filer, 41, of Carlos, died this morning in Miners Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Carlos, he was a son of the late Samuel and Nannie (Fatkin) Filer. Mr. Filer was a member of Carlos Methodist Church and had been employed on the maintenance staff at Frostburg State Teachers College. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Anna (McKenzie) Filer; a daughter, Carol Ann Filer, at home; and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Wade, Carlos; Mrs. Earl Kroll and Mrs. Edward Kroll, both of Midland. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home. The Cumberland Evening Times, March 16, 1961 He was buried on 18 Mar 1961 in Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg, Allegany Co., Maryland.
