- GRANTSVILLE — Kermit Loraine “Butch” Bittinger, 83, of Grantsville, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville. Born June 28, 1931, in Grantsville, he was the son of the late Kermit C. and Estella Ruth (Beachy) Bittinger. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita Elizabeth (Bittinger) Goehringer. Mr. Bittinger was a farmer and a graduate from Grantsville High School in 1949. He was a member of Woodmen of the World, Camp 41. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Frances (McKenzie) Bittinger; one son, Michael R. Bittinger, Grantsville; one granddaughter, Sheli Bittinger Gray and husband, Jeff; and two great-granddaughters, Ashlin and Abbie Gray, all of Monument, Colo. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, from 2 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ingrid Chenoweth officiating. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad or the American Heart Association.
