Obituaries HARRY K Pope Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - SPRINGS, Pa. -- Harry Kenneth Pope, 71, of 1347 Springs Road, Springs, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at his residence. Born Oct. 30, 1929, in Frostburg, Md., he was a son of the late Herbert Kenneth and Emma A. (Blocher) Pope. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Oliver David Pope. Mr. Pope was a lifetime member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church and a charter member of the United Methodist Men. He was a farmer and truck driver, having been employed by Mountain Counties Milk Hauling Co-op, and more recently, the Otto Brick and Tile. He is survived by his wife of 46-1/2 years, Mildred Patricia "Patsy" (Durst) Pope, whom he married July 31, 1954; two sons, Philip Pope, Tavares, Fla., and Matthew Pope, Grantsville, Md.; three daughters, Connie Caceres and husband Jorge, Brenda Brode and husband Wayne, all of Hyndman, and Patricia Wiley and husband John, Corriganville, Md.; one brother, William Scott Pope and wife Janis, Cresaptown, Md.; one sister-in-law, Marie Pope, Lompoc, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Thomas, Tyler and Jesse Pope, Jennifer and Elizabeth Pope, Steven, Christopher and Michael Brode, Jason and Justin Wiley, and Tasha Clark; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steven Lightner officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Philip Pope, Matthew Pope, Thomas Pope, Jorge Caceres, Steven Brode and Christopher Brode. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Durst, David Durst, Robert Pope, Francis Pope, Brent and John Gundaker and Oliver Hoover. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Mount Zion United Methodist Cemetery Fund or the charity of choice.
