FROSTBURG - Robert E. McKenzie, 84, of 205 McCulloh St., died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at his residence. Born on Jan. 16, 1916, in Avilton, he was the son of the late Edward Joseph and Mary (Freal) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of immediate family. Mr. McKenzie was retired from the Spinning Department of the Celanese Fibers Corp. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Battle of the Bulge and D-day. He was a member of the Farrady Post #24, American Legion and the Cumberland Outdoor Club.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Irene (Caton) McKenzie; two sons, Robert L. McKenzie, Bedford, Pa., and Edward Joseph McKenzie, Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, Bonnie L. Raddatz, Wake Forest, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William G. Boyer officiating. Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by Farrady Post #24 American Legion Honor Guard.
