- GILMORE - Rachel Pearl McKenzie, 84, of Magnolia Garden Nursing Home, Lanham, formerly of Gilmore, died Sunday, July 31, 1994 at the nursing home. Born on May 17, 1910 in Morgantown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Lavina (Beeman) Rowe. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Richard McKenzie in 1983. Mrs. McKenzie was a former employee of the Celanese Fibers Corporation and was a former manager of High’s Dairy stores. She was a member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mount Raynor, Md. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are two sons, Joseph H. Rowe, Brian’s Road, Md.; Ronald Wayne McKenzie, New Tripley, Pa.; one daughter, Linda Cox, Greenbelt; four grandchildren, Debra Cox, Cara Cox, Susan Cox and Cathy Cughlin, and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Cughlin. Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing. A Christian wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church on Wednesday at 9 a.m. with Father Michael Murphy as celebrant. Interment will be in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Midland.
