He died on 20 Oct 2006 in Pocahontas, Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. Cumberland Times-News - POCAHONTAS, Pa. — Carl Boyd Wilhelm, 88, of Pocahontas, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at his residence. Born May 28, 1918, in Sommerfield, Pa., he was the son of the late Dewey Wilhelm and Daisy (McKenzie) Wilhelm. Carl also was preceded in death by two sisters, Sylva and Helen; one brother, Bernard; and one daughter, Evelena Doell. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Wilhelm was retired from the filtration department at the former Celanese Fibers Corp. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Carl was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Pocahontas. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Genevieve (Drees) Wilhelm; one son, Boyd Wilhelm, at home; one daughter, Donna Kelley and husband Wayne, Springs, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Laurie Smith, Jim Doell, John Doell, Chris Davis, Dan Doell, Alena McKenzie, Aaron Holler and Lucinda Brennaman; and 19 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 8:30 p.m., led by Father Albert J. Anselmi. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Pocahontas, on Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Albert J. Anselmi as celebrant. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by members of the Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard. Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery, Pocahontas.
