Harold Arthur Lotz, 75, of Bedford Street, Hyndman, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va. Born on Feb. 20, 1925, in Mount Savage, Md., he was the 9th of 13 children born to the late Henry William and Grace Cecelia (McKenzie) Lotz. Surviving are sons, William R. "Bill" Lotz and wife Susan (Clites), Hyndman, and Timothy A. "Tim" Lotz and wife Lynda (Montieth), Greensburg; daughter, Lura L. Shaffer and husband Richard, Bedford; brothers, Edgar Lotz and wife Dot (Finzel), Frostburg, Md., George Lotz, Fairmont, W.Va., John Lotz and wife Nora, Okeechobee, Fla., Howard Lotz and wife Mary (Segalla), Canaan, CT, and James "Frank" Lotz and wife Willie, Mineral Wells, Texas; sisters, Gladys Twigg, Oldtown, Md., and Grace Lepley and husband Earl, Mount Savage; brother-in-law, Sam Wilhelm, Hyndman; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In January 2000, Mr. Lotz was preceded in death by Doris J. (Wilhelm) Lotz, his wife of 51 years. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters. Mr. Lotz had worked as a coal miner, a railroader and for the Celanese Corporation, Cumberland, prior to it's closing. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, a life member of the Oscar Jordan Post #7375 VFW, a member of the Hyndman Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Kennells Mills Sportsman's Club. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Steven L. Craft officiating. Military honors will be conferred graveside by the Everett Honor Guard at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
