- Thomas E. Lancaster, 87, of Cumberland, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. Born in Mount Savage on July 4, 1931, he was the son of the late Edith (Moran) and Edgar "Ted" Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Folk and husband Earl "Butch"; brothers-in-law, W. Clay Ingram, Robert Mathews, William R. Turner, and James Turner. Tom was a graduate of Beall High School, Class of 1949. Following high school, Tom served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. While serving in the Marines, he was an arial photographer. Upon being discharged, he began his career as a draftsman at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory. Tom was employed at ABL until his retirement after serving the company for 38 years. Tom was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight, Wamba Caravan 89 Order of Alhambra, American Legion, and Marine Corps Veterans Association. Tom is survived by his wife of 65 years, Winona "Toni" Turner Lancaster; children, Linda S. Hager and husband, Tate, Ellerslie, Debra A. Lancaster, Cumberland, Barbara J. Salas and husband, Dr. Louis Salas, Ellicott City, and Thomas E. Lancaster II and wife, Lori, Davidsonville; grandchildren, Tate J. Hager and wife, Rachel, Shane T. Hager, Laura A. Hager, Sam L. Salas, Elena S. Salas, Marlee M. Lancaster, and Elise D. Lancaster; sister, Rosemary Mathews; sisters-in law, Colleen R. Ingram, Cumberland, Frances Bopp and husband, Jack, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Charlotte Turner, Cumberland. Tom is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church on Tuesday, Aug.
7, 2018, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Tom's memory may do so by making contributions to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O.
