He died on 21 Apr 2011 in Cresaptown, Allegany Co., Maryland. CRESAPTOWN — John Louis Goldsworthy, 70, of Cresaptown, died on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at his residence. Born Jan. 2, 1941, in Cresaptown, he was the son of the late William L. and Mary Velma (McKenzie) Goldsworthy. He was also preceded in death by one son, John Joseph Goldsworthy; and one brother, William Goldsworthy. John was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 100, having served a term as president. He worked many years for Walter N. Yoder and Sons, Inc. Upon retirement, he devoted much of his time as a Salvation Army volunteer, having just last week received the “Volunteer of the Year” award. John evolved from hunter to true animal lover, especially Mushu, Misty and Mugdim, and he could be seen every day outside distributing feed for the songbirds and other wild creatures. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Sharon M. (Yoder) Goldsworthy; one daughter, Jodie M. Goldsworthy; grandchildren, Jillian J. Gordon, T. Wayde Gordon and Jocelyn M. Gordon; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. According to his wishes, he will be cremated. There will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 701 E.
