- LILLIAN, Ala. - Mrs. Charlotte Broadwater, 74, of here, a former resident of the Cumberland, Md. area, died Monday at Pensacola Hospital, Pensacola, Fla. Born Jan. 6, 1911, in Avilton, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Q. Michael and Sarah M. (Lewellyn) Michael. Mrs. Broadwater was a housekeeper, and formerly operated Gladstone Frozen Custard stand, Baltimore Pike, Cumberland. She is survived by her husband, Gladstone Broadwater, here; one son, Clinton E. Broadwater, also of here; one daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Lee, Orange Park, Fla.; three brothers, David Michael, Washington, D.C.; Charles Michael, Water View, Va.; Stewart Michael, Cumberland; three sisters, Mrs. Wilda Minnick and Mrs. Lillie McKenzie, both of Frostburg, Md.; Mrs. Mary Wampler, Vale Summit, Md.; eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Md., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Powell Hall. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Star Route, Frostburg. Cumberland Evening Times, December 27, 1985
