- Hezekiah (born in Ohio), oldest son of Jacob and Nancy Stoner, was born 7 Oct 1819, in Muskingum Co., OH; died 14 July 1890, aged 70, Harrison Co., MO.
He married Rebecca Mossburger in Ohio. Her death, 9 Oct 1878, age 54. Family records show that Hezekiah and Rebecca did not move to Missouri until after the rest of the family.
This is a story written by Moses Stoner: "We came to Missouri in covered wagons with four horses and a dog. We were six weeks making the trip. We crossed the Mississippi at Burlington, Iowa, on a steamboat. It was 1 1/2 miles wide where we crossed. We crossed Grand River on a ferry boat at Cainsville. We lived on Uncle Spence's place one year and then moved near Mt. Moriah." (notes: a yellowed newspaper obituary of Moses, age 89, in which he was said to have been age seven when the trip was made.)
Hezekiah settled on a farm in Trail Creek Twp. in Harrison County, MO. where he made his home until his death. He was a prosperous farmer and accumulated a tract of 260 acres of land which he divided equally between his two living children. In order to do this equally, he had to split a 20 acre tract exactly in the middle. All of their children were: Sarah Ellen; Caleb; George W.; and Jacob V.
