- Obituary:
David (sic) R. McKenzie, a well known farmer, died at his residence in Cresaptown this morning, aged 60 years. He leaves one son, Mark McKenzie. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the M.E. Church at Cesaptown. The Evening Times, Cumberland, MD., Saturday, January 7, 1899.
His name is listed in the Civil War Draft Registrations for thr 4th Congressional District in Maryland, 1863, along with the following individuals: Enoch McKenzie, age29; John H. McKenzie, age 23; George H. McKenzie, age 25; Joshua McKenzie, age 21; Samuel McKenzie, age 34; Loyd McKenzie, age 20; and Newton McKenzie, age 20. There is no other Daniel Richard McKenzie in the western Maryland area who could be mistaken for the Daniel Richard McKenzie on this draft list.
